Did demons appear in the Old Testament
Of course they do, we find them in the poems:
Leviticus 17.7 "And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations."
Deuteronomy 32.17 "They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not."
Psalms 106.36-38 "And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood."
The worship of demons existed as early as the time of Moses, among people who saw with their own eyes the wonders of our Creator. How is it possible to worship demons while being led through the wilderness by God Himself? Here we see the mighty power of Satan, who, with all the host of his demons, can very cleverly influence our thoughts. It is worth noting how he did it with the first humans:
Genesis 3.1-5 "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
Satan's wiles
Satan does not attack us directly by saying that he is the evil one. He does it by means of deception, so well that he deceives almost all of humanity. At the beginning he used the words: "whether indeed". In this way he tries to raise doubts, to raise questions in our minds, to undermine God's credibility. Then the words are said: "surely you will not die". He puts his opinion above God, claims that he is the one telling the truth, and God is deceiving us.
Satan's activities are gaining momentum, more and more people are falling into his snares. Just a few decades ago, demon worship was not as strong as it is today. More and more satanic associations and congregations are being formed. People who openly profess Satan become idols, pulling whole crowds of fans behind them. Satanism is becoming so fashionable that companies producing satanic articles have sprung up.
And although Satan is a formidable opponent, he doesn't stand the slightest chance against God. This is how Revelation presents the end of demons:
Revelation 20 "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
