Did God order the killing of Isaac interpretation, commentary
In the Old Testament, more specifically in the First Book of Moses chapter 22 in verses 1 to 18 we read about God putting Abraham to the test:
"(1) And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. (2) And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. (3) And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. (4) Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. (5) And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
What Scripture says about vegetarianism. Does God allow you to eat meat
When Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden, only plants served them as food, and more importantly, the same was true for animals that ate plant food. There was no sin yet, so there was no death either, and since there was no death then you couldn't eat meat either, because it was obvious that it came from dead animals.
Genesis 1.28-30 "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so."
How many days in the Bible it took to create the world
Any person who questions the creation of the world as depicted in Scripture puts God in the position of a liar. Those who supposedly believe in the biblical creation, yet add the erroneous theory that it took millions of years, also fall into the group of people who call the Creator a fraud. The big bang theory and the theory of evolution are fictions based on theories, not evidence, that atheists have invented. A Christian who bases his life on the word of God should not believe atheists, but his Heavenly Father. Do you think that God, who can perform amazing miracles, would not be able to create planet Earth, the Sun and life on Earth in a week?
How to interpret the words "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."
Revelation 3.15-16 "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."
The letter to Laodicea is addressed to the society in which we currently live. It is the last of the letters to the churches that represent periods in Christianity. Verses 15 and 16 contain strong words that should awaken anyone reckless in their approach to faith. The end of those who die as lukewarm or cold is a foregone conclusion - eternal death.
The feeding of five thousand husbands in addition to women and children is the first miracle described in each of the four Gospels.
Descriptions of the miracle can be found in Matthew 14.15-23, Mark 6.35-45, Luke 9.12-17 and John 6.5-15.
John 6.5-15 "When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
I invite you to watch a very interesting video. There you will see evidence of the Flood and the young age of the earth.
According to the Bible, the earth is about 5800-6000 years old. The video does not give the exact age of the earth, but refutes the theory of evolution about the formation of our world over billions of years.
It shows, among other things:
- how coal is formed and the traces of dinosaurs in coal,
- how oil is formed and where it is extracted on an ongoing basis,
- how the Grand Canyon was formed and the destructive power of water,
Theory 1 cited by evolutionists (inconsistent with Scripture due to the age of creation):
Coal was formed 360-30 million years ago from dead plants in swampy, marshy areas. The dead plant tissues form peat, which as it moves deeper underground undergoes greater pressure and high temperature. The aforementioned lack of oxygen, tremendous pressure, the right temperature and millions of years make coal in the place of the former peat. The longer the coal lay in a particular place, the better the quality, until it reached graphite, or 100% coal.
Theory 2 The origin of coal according to the Bible
Before the Flood, the Earth was surrounded by water vapor, ice grains or a water mantle. This is as possible as, for example, the existing rings of Jupiter, Saturn or Uranus, except that the mantle surrounded the entire earth, rather than forming only a ring, and could float to higher levels of the atmosphere.
Second Epistle of St. Peter, chapter 2 interpretation, meaning, commentary, explanation
(1) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
False teachers appeared very quickly in Christianity. Already during the lifetime of the apostles they created splits in local churches, introduced false teachings, deceiving followers. The author of the letter, probably Peter, warns us against them. How to know them? We are talking about pernicious teachings, that is, teachings that, instead of converting the sinner, will actually cause him to depart from the teachings of the Bible. We will know some of them by the fact that they will deny the Lord Jesus and all those religious creeds that belittle the role of Jesus in our salvation.
First Epistle of St. Peter, chapter 3:1-7 interpretation, meaning, commentary, explanation
(1) Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
The head of the family is to be the man. Peter, like Paul, writes that the woman is to obey her husband, even one who is not a believer. Such obedience has its limits when God is pushed to the background by the husband's behavior. God should always come first, and if the husband, forces the woman to disobey, for example, any of God's commandments, then the wife has the right to disobey her husband with firmness and a calm conscience toward the Creator.
The 2014 film Noah is a highly controversial film, and that is not what its title should be, as it has little to do with real events. At the beginning, words from Scripture are quoted, so the viewer may get the impression that the film is trying to accurately portray the events described in the pages of the Bible, which is not the case. If there had been an insert at the beginning informing the viewer that "this thing" does not reflect real events, and that many plots and characters were introduced by the director, the film would not have been so inferior. On one site you can read that director/screenwriter Darren Aronofsky claims that no one in cinema has yet adhered as closely to the letter of the Bible as he has, which is, of course, complete nonsense.
One of the most difficult moments in a person's life is the death of a loved one, especially an innocent young child. Then we wonder, where is God? Why did he let the child die, after all, he did not manage to do anything wrong in life.
At the outset, let's clarify what death is.
It is worth reading the Book of Revelation/Apocalypse to understand the issue of the second coming of Jesus Christ, who will take saved people to heaven. This coming is followed by 1000 years of darkness. The 1000 years pass and Jesus descends to earth again with the saints (saved people). Unsaved people and fallen angels, attack the Savior and only then is the second death, or the destruction of evil forever, along with unsaved people and fallen angels. If you don't want to read the entire Revelation, check out chapters 19-22, because this period is presented there.
Letter to the Hebrews, chapter 13 interpretation, meaning, commentary, explanation
(1) Let brotherly love continue.
We are to love people as if they were our brothers or sisters. Every person is a child of God, and this is how we should approach others. There is no room for anger or hatred.
(2) Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Another verse from Scripture that says angels are among us and sometimes take human form. We never know if the person in need is an angel, who, at God's command, checks what kind of heart we have. This verse, can also mean hospitality to persecuted Christians.
Letter to the Hebrews, chapter 1 interpretation - meaning - commentary - explanation
Hebrews 1.1-14 "[1] God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, [2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; [3] Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; [4] Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. [5] For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? [6] And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
The 10 commandments of God called the Decalogue contained in the Old Testament are different from those known to most of the public. To make matters worse, during a conversation in which they are quoted the Biblical Decalogue, they find that the given translation of Scripture is false, because they have not heard of such commandments. Sad, but true. Most of us, know the 10 commandments preached by the Roman Catholic Church, which do not coincide with the biblical ones. Why is that?
The Roman Catholic Church has slightly changed the content of God's commandments, it is believed that it has removed one of them, so that the last commandment about lust is divided into two parts.
It is also worth mentioning that it is conventionally accepted to divide the 10 commandments, with some seeing it as 8 (combining the first, second and third biblical into one), 9 (combining the first and second biblical into one) or even 11 (dividing the tenth biblical into two parts).
Church pride is one of the main reasons why people leave the church they belong to. Unfortunately, but the leadership doesn't seem to see it, or doesn't want to see it. This is not a problem of just one church or religious group, but of the vast majority of them. In which church will you hear: very good that you found God, now find a good Protestant church and attend there. Instead you will hear: come to us, in other churches they preach untruth, they act contrary to the Scriptures.
Is there an infallible church in the world? Yes, the church of Jesus Christ, which has no building in this broken complacent world. And are there churches that consider themselves infallible? Yes, they are such churches that have fallen into pride, have lost their minds thinking that they are the only chosen ones.
Interpretation of Paul's letter to Philemon interpretation - meaning - commentary - explanation
Philemon "[1] Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer, [2] And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house: [3] Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. [4] I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, [5] Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; [6] That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. [7] For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother. [8] Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient, [9] Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
Prayer to God is something wonderful, we can send our thanks and requests directly to the Creator. We don't need any human intermediary or angel for this. Every loving Father wants to talk to his children, and so does God want us to talk to him. The Bible contains a multitude of prayers addressed to God and not a single one addressed to God through a human intermediary, including a dead person. An interesting prayer can be found in the Book of Nehemiah:
Nehemiah 1.4-11 "And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven, [5] And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments: [6] Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned.
How to interpret the words Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise
Luke 23.43 "And He said to him, Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." NASB
Luke 23.43 " "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." KJV
Because of the above sentence, there are different opinions in many churches. Two rather strongly differing interpretations have emerged. The first says that the thief was still in paradise with Jesus on the same day, while the second says that he was not, because the word "today" refers to the fact that Jesus singles out the day on which he utters the word. To me, such an interpretation is strange, to say the least, because it doesn't fit with the rest of Scripture. Who among us utters the words: "I say to you that today we will go for a walk together" having in mind that the walk will be on another day, and the word today is an indication of the day on which the sentence was spoken. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't make sense.
2 Timothy chapter 1 "[1] Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, [2] To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. [3] I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; [4] Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; [5] When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
Egg markings in the European Union give more control over what breeding conditions the hens have. When buying eggs in stores, the vast majority of people choose the cheapest ones with a mark of 3. They care little about how the animals are treated, what matters most is their money (to spend as little as possible) and their bellies. Just spending a few coins more can definitely improve the conditions in which animals live. How many eggs do you buy per month? Don't be stingy and let these poor animals live in better conditions. Egg producers themselves are also misleading, claiming happy free-range hens on green grass on their packaging, with eggs numbered 3 inside.
Humanity is demoralized, instead of living in harmony with nature, showing love for people and animals, it treats others as enemies, often going after dead bodies to achieve its goals. Money is more important than the welfare of others. When they fail in life, they face suffering and complain to God.
Luke 15.1-7 "Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. And he spake this parable unto them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance."
The suffering that befalls people is caused by the sin that prevails on earth. A world without sin, would be a paradise of eternal happiness.
The media report almost daily on violence, misery, murder, etc. A person murders another human being in a bestial way, beforehand inflicting unimaginable pain. During wars, whole families are killed, the perpetrators take pleasure in the harm done. The minds of such people are possessed by Satan, no normal person takes pleasure in cruelty. Every day scammers and crooks prey on people's poverty. Most employers take advantage of unemployment and treat people like emotionless robots. Fraud in companies is at every step, it has become almost mandatory. It has come to the point where there is a belief that one must steal, and one who is honest is called abnormal and stupid.
Animals, although they did not bring sin to earth, have been affected by suffering just as much as humans. Why must they endure so much evil, even though they are not guilty of sin. For an example, let's look at the following verses:
Jeremiah 7.20 "Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched."
Jeremiah 12.4 "How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end."
Many people, including those who profess Christianity, do not believe that the end of the world will happen in their lifetime. They believe that it is so distant that sooner people will colonize other planets before Jesus comes again to earth. Is this a misconception?
God has made it clear to us that the end of this world will come, but He has not announced when exactly it will happen. He has, however, given us clues by which we will know that it is imminent.
